There is actually nothing on my buy list this week. Therefore, I will take the opportunity to talk about some of what I've been reading lately. Although it was not on my buy lsit, I picked up and read the first issue of the new Venom series (it was half price; RESULT!). It was a decent enough issue but I must warn you there is no Eddie Brock here. This is not Eddie Brock or Mac Gregor. This is an all new Venom. We get part of the story from the perspective of the symbiote who actually has good intentions and wants to be better. However, the new host has different ideas. The new host surpresses the symbiote's own interests and uses the suit for wrong. It is a very interesting dynamic. I would suggest giving the book a read.
I've been reading quite a lot of Marvel but I have read that Marvel has frustrated many retailers. Perhaps it is their events or reboots but either way I have enjoyed them. You don't need to read the tie-ins necessarily to read the main event but I can see how reading the main issues of a series can get frustrating if you don't care about the event. However, the events should be read because for the most part they change the status quo in the Marvel Universe.
On the topic of events, I have just finished Civil War II and Tony Stark, it appears, has been running experiments on himself. He modified his body in such a way that he didn't die in this event. Carol Danvers would have killed him if not for these enhancements I suppose. From this event comes the birth of the new Hulk series featuring Jen Walters. the first issue of that was interesting to say the least. Usually Jen appears in her green skin, rarely ever in human form. However here, we get a deep look into her psyche and she is in her normal human form for almost the entirety of the issue.
I've enjoyed the many Spider-Man titles I am reading as well. The Clone Conspiracy has been interesting but i'm still a bit iffy on the return and turn of Ben Reilly. Other than that, I still love Miles, Renew your Vows has been strong, and Venom was interesting. I am loving to the max Mary Jane in Renew Your Vows. She is just brilliant and her costume is mint.
I have dropped almost all DC titles just because I was spending too much money on comics and had to cut somewhere. I know it makes little sense to drop DC to a lot of folks but for me I have just lost a lot of interest in it. Rebirth really amde a lot of people happy but for me I just didn't have the time or money to get invested in the new titles. Perhaps I will pick up some trades when they are released.
Saga has still been smashing it. No surprise there really. I've also been enjoying Paper Girls, though not as much as I did originally. On the Dark Horse side I need to catch up on Lady Killer II. The first series was great and I am excited to read the second. That is all for now and I hope you lot enjoyed this. Thanks everyone and #StayNerdy!
