Welcome back to the Buy List everyone!
If you haven't seen it yet we did start a comic book review podcast that we are calling Comic Book Talk under the normal Nerdy Boys Reviews heading.
I suppose the first thing I should mention this week is the cancellations. All of the books that I am cancelling I do enjoy. However, due to budgetary reasons I had to cancel some books.
Karnak's first issue ame out soooooo long ago. I have been waiting a while for this second issue to come out. I find Karnak to be such an interesting and powerful character. He may seem flat to some people but I enjoy him quite a lot.
Everything else has continued to be strong. Reach out to us if you are interested in us reviewing any of these books or even other books that aren't on the list. Thanks everyone and #StayNerdy!
Well, well, well.
Welcome Back everyone!
Here's the thing. The Nerdy Boys are talking about doing more comic book talk on the podcast. If you have book suggestions or ideas on the best way to do it please reach out to us. Links to all of our social media are at the top and bottom of the page. Should we do full series or just first issues to get people interested? Should we do it on our regular podcast or make a separate comic book podcast? Let us know!
The only book I am going to really talk about this week is Welcome to Pleasant Hill. This is a book that is setting up for the next Avengers event. We are in a new world in Marvel right now. We know we are getting OG Cap back. Steve Rogers will be back. So where does that leave Sam Wilson? Those who listen to our podcast have likely heard my opinion on Sam Wilson Not So Captain America. This prologue story seems to be focused elsewhere. Here is the synopsis: "The prelude to the Spring's blockbuster AVENGERS event! Hello there and welcome, new resident. You've sure made the right choice in moving to Pleasant Hill-- a friendly small town where burdens are lifted and the sun is always bright... so hide your eyes. Don't let it see you looking its way. Hide if you must. Otherwise it will burn right through you. Pleasant Hill is the kind of place where folks look out for one another. Everyone knows who their neighbors are. But who are you, neighbor?" If this sounds interesting to you, maybe check out the series.
The rest of these series that I am reading have been great and I can't wait to read the new Iron fist and Power Man. Thanks all and #StayNerdy!
Here we are once more in the Buy List!
There really is not much to say here that I have not said before. Some of the stuff here such as Illuminati is pretty hit or miss. Descender has been so good and I just found out Sony is making a live action movie adaption and I cannot wait for that.
This week is Deadpool week and his book has come out strong the past couple weeks. I was not that interested in the last issue with Deadpool 2099 but it wasn't terrible. I am beyond excited for the movie which we will be talking about this week either on the podcast or in a separate, Deadpool dedicated, episode.
The first issue of Old Man Logan had everything anyone could want. Now we are going to look further into Amedeus Cho in this issue and hopefully he does us justice as the new Hulk. I hear that series is fantastic but have not read it myself.
Be sure to stay tuned for our podcast or podcasts this week and share us with your friends and family. Thank you and #StayNerdy!
Hello Nerdy people!
Welcome back to the Buy List. One thing I was considering was doing actually in depth reviews on some of these books. If I were to do that, which ones would you most be interested in? Perhaps it would be better to do reviews as blog posts and then to talk about them on the podcast. What do you guys think?
For this week, I will start with Marvel. Amazing Spider-Man has been really quite good despite the fact that Spider-Man is essentially Iron Man now. I will say that this is not a book for everyone. People who are huge fans of the older Spider-Man stuff and who have not read more recent stuff may find that this series lacks some of the fundamental parts of Peter Parker's character. Doctor Strange continues to wow. The series is not only fun and entertaining but it also provides readers with an emotional anchor while presenting the consequences of being the Sorcerer Supreme. Obi-Wan and Anakin had an okay first issue. It is great to see young Anakin and how Obi-Wan struggled with teaching him. The story was not that strong but we will see where it goes. I cannot wait for Miles' first series as THE Spider-Man. He has earned it.
Batgirl is good right now. I feel like they are getting close to a recycled plot but they continue to surprise and make interesting moves. Batman and robin Eternal threatened to change our understanding of Bruce Wayne forever. In recent issues those revelations come to light and we find out the truth. Fans of Batman, fans of Robin, rejoice. Batman Europa is good but not great.
I feel like I have said enough about Paper Girls. If you aren't reading it yet, I have no clue what you are doing with your life. God is Dead has perhaps gone on too long and is maybe nearing its end. They are trying new things but the feeling is not the same. Klaus is fun and not what you'd expect.
Thanks again everyone for listening to us and reading. I will be back again next week. Until then #StayNerdy.
