8.) League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Tied for First and Second
This is a bit of a silly question. Abomination was defeated by Edward Norton's Hulk at the end of the 2008 Marvel film. Whiplash was defeated at the end of Iron Man 2. Do we wonder where he is? No. We haven't had a new Hulk film and it could be doubtful we ever get one. Perhaps Marvel just is not interested in going any further with that character. He is one of Hulk's greatest adversaries but we are moving in a different direction right now.
This question came in the context of us knowing he is alive but The Avengers not. The article really questioned why the Avengers didn't know he was brought back. That is ridiculous. It is well-known that the Avengers can never know he is back. His death brought them together. It gave them something to fight for. If you don't believe me, watch the interviews with Joss Whedon. This question is dumb; moving on.
Now I am not one to knit pick but this seems fairly out of place. Black Panther after all is a character of much historical significance. I wonder why this decision was made in general. It is, however, not just the meow, but also the fact that Black Panther was reduced to a joke a second time. "The biggest Marvel movie yet introduces Black Panther. He's tall, powerful-and has claws that a Real Housewife would envy." I get the joke. I don't find it funny. I would argue that many do not find it acceptable. I doubt that many readers will have prior knowledge of Black Panther or what he meant for comics at the time of the publication. I wonder how many know of his serious attitude, his genius level intellect, his status as a king, and the fact that he is worth more than Iron Man and Bruce Wayne combined in the framework of the universe.
