Paper Girls #9
It is definitely an essential issue to read but it fails to have the big moment that other issues have had. Overall, I continue to love this series and highly recommend it.
These are some of my favorite elements in comics. We have an interesting portrayal of religious zealots and their embrace of the villain The Carpenter. We also see the hateful nature of some people that I believe is not a natural part of society. I don't think that people are inherently bad or that they even have bad intentions. Even the characters in this story believe they are doing the right thing. However, we also get a women who appears to be the embodiment of Donald Trump in comic book form.
There is much to enjoy about this issue but the great hiatus and the fact that the issue was extra long were enough to really bug me. If you have yet to check out the story then I would suggest reading the first three issues in succession. For me, I am a bit frustrated. I will continue to read the series but I hope that it continues in a timely manner.
